I grew up on a farm in Blue Knob, Pennsylvania. Blue Knob is the second highest mountain in Pennsylvania and, as you can see from the pictures, we usually have a white Christmas. Although my wife Susie was raised in suburban Pittsburgh, her mechanical abilities (BS & MS in Civil Engr. PSU 1990 & 92) allowed her to quickly learn to drive a tractor. Some of my favorite equipment on the farm was our pair of Allis-Chalmers WD-45's. Dad and Mom, with the help of my younger brother Toby, still operate a profitable agribusiness on this mountaintop farm. The farm operation consists of approximately 200 acres of rotated corn, alfalfa hay and oats, plus a boarding program of dairy heifers on steeper pastureland. In addition, Toby recently started a business of breeding the dairy heifers. Toby and his wife Sheila live in Blue Knob and are the fourth generation to work this mountain farm. My youngest brother Matthew earned his music education degree from Penn State and is teaching in the Meyersdale, Pennsylvania High School. My spare time is filled with....
