Variable-Rate Nitrogen Applicator
| Variable-rate (VR) liquid nitrogen injection applicator. This was built by the Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Department to be used for VR nitrogen studies in cooperation with Agronomy and Agricultural Economics. A John-Blue piston pump, Rawson controller, and laptop computer are used for varying application rates. | |
| Rear-view of applicator. | |
| Corn rows after N application. | |
| John-Blue piston pump and Rawson hydraulic drive unit. | |
| Blue-Jet Super 900 units. | |
| Prescription map for one of the many studies investigating the potential of varying nitrogen rates in Kentucky. | |
| Overlay of the field application file (spatial point file), generated during application by the software package AgView, and the prescription map. AgView is used for automated VR control of the applicator plus provides a application feedback from the Rawson controller via a field application file. |
