The following web sites have been reviewed and compiled in an effort to provide visitors seeking additional information on the internet with a source of URL's. Every effort has been made to insure that these sites are active and current. This is the Ag Electronics Association’s homepage. The AEA is a "new industry association bringing together a wide diversity of interests related to the advancement of the use of electronics in agriculture." There is a lot of information on the association, but not a lot on site-specific farming.
Association of Ag Computing Companies’ page. This is a page linked via www.agriculture.com. Information about the AACC is available through links provided.
This is a website by Ben Koostra regarding his research project with Dr. Steve Workman and others in the Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Department here at UK. Their project tracks cattle movement via GPS and monitors their impact on riparian zones (waterways) in the pasture.
This is the Farmer’s Software Association’s homepage. The FSA is "committed to providing the best agricultural software and hardware products available to the agricultural community." There is lots of info on the association, but little information on the specifics of precision farming.
GeoVect handles the conversion of hard copy map information to digital data for your GIS. Such may be very helpful if you need to convert soils maps, historical photographs, or other paper copy to a form that can be used in mapping software.
This is the homepage of Horvick Manufacturing (Fertilizer and Chemical Application Equipment and Parts Specialist). They are "...committed to providing you [farmer] with the best site specific farming solutions available." Two links from this page are Featured Products and Agricultural Links.
This is the Precision Farming homepage maintained by the John Deere company. There is a brief explanation of PF followed by many links to sites with information about Deere’s GreenStar line of products (computer systems, software, reprots, etc.). This is a good starting place for information on the technology of Deere as well as basic information on site-specific ag.
This is a great starting point for finding information on site-specific agriculture. It is from the University of Georgia. This page provides numerous links to specific topics related to precision farming as well as some basic information. NESPAL stands for National Environmentally Sound Production Agriculture Laboratory.
The National Academic Press has this book online. It is a very interesting read on the issues of technology adoption and public policy.
This is the address for PrecisionAg.com which will link you with several dealers. Also, it has a link to the Precision Ag Buyer's Guide that lists products and their providers.
This is a resource that is a joint effort of the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California State University, Fresno, and the University of California, Davis. It contains a great learning experience regarding PA topics.
A resource from Delta Data Systems, Inc. that summarizes the basics of PA. A great place to start learning about PA.
Joseph Barry is a businessman and scholar in the area of applied GIS. This is an online version of his book "The Precision Farming Primer: GIS Technology and Site-Specific Management in Production Agriculture." It gives a very good, global overview of the methodology of PA.
This is from Rinex Technology. Some of the issues surrounding Precision Farming are discussed. For example: "What it is..., What can it do for me..., How does it work..., What computer knowledge is required..., Where do I start..."
This is a site from Starlink Incorporated. It provides information on GPS. The primary focus is on the free real time Differential GPS which is being installed world wide and the products Starlink offers for its users. The links offered include info on Starlink products, GPS, DGPS, applications of DGPS, and currnet GPS/DGPS status reports.
This is a tutorial in the basic principles behind GPS technology.
This is the homepage for the USDA's Current Research Information System (CRIS). The site contains a powerful search engine that can identify specific topics about any agricultural research subject. It will give one the most recent research findings.
As part of the University of Minnesota’s Department of Soil, Water, and Climate, the Precision Agriculture Center Online maintains this web page. Reports on research being done is just part of their online content. Two of the other features is a calendar of events related to precision farming and links to research groups. There is also a list serv that you can subscribe to that will keep you abreast of precision agriculture progress (see our section on newsletters for more details).
University of Purdue Precision Agriculture web page containing research, a monthly newsletter, publications and additional information regarding precision agriculture activities.
