Major employers of biosystems and agricultural engineers include:

  • Industries that produce commodity and specialty chemicals (such as fuels, enzymes, proteins, pharmaceuticals) and food products (such as cereals, baked goods, beverages).

  • Manufacturers who produce equipment and supplies for agriculture, such as field machinery, buildings and building materials, environmental control systems, feed, fertilizer, and chemicals.

  • Public service agencies, such as the Natural Resource Conservation Service, Environmental Protection Agency, universities, and state Cooperative Extension Services.

  • Producers and processors who need engineers and managers for large operations.

  • Engineering consulting firms that work with water resource management and land reclamation issues related to the construction of buildings, roads, and other civil structures.
