Soils Information

There are 29 separate soil groups that have been classified on the Woodford County Animal Research Farm.  This Classification of the soils was performed by the U.S.D.A. Soil Conservation Service in June of 1994.  The soils were identified using both truck mounted hydraulic soil probes and handheld probes.  The areas were then delineated in units as small as 0.25 acre.  Soils were examined and described to the bedrock layer or to a depth of 8 feet.
