  • The Animal Research Center is located in the Inner Bluegrass Physiographic Region of Kentucky.  The area around the farm is characterized by rolling uplands with a maximum relief of 110 feet.  The subwatersheds located within the farm drain to the Pin Oak creek and the Camden Run creek.  These two creeks join together and flow to Glenns creek and eventually to the Kentucky River.
  • The ARC is composed of five distinct classifications:  Grier Member, Devils Hollow Member, Tanglewood Member, Brannon Member, and Alluvium deposits.  Due to the nature of the limestone located within the area, several sinkholes and swallets have been identified.  A number of springs are also present on the farm due to the underlying limestone.
