Dye Traces

Introduction of Dye

This is an illustration of the dye being introduced into the stream near a natural opening.  This dye travels though the ground and is later detected by either a cotton bug, activated carbon, or by visual inspection.

Visual Conformation of Dye

This is an image of the dye emerging from a wet weather spring.  This is a good illustration of a visual conformation made from the dye.

Activated Carbon

Near the center of this photo is a bag of activated carbon.  This is one method used to detect emerging dyes.

Dye Trace Information from the Animal Research Center

  • This is a image of the various dye traces that have been performed at and near the Animal Research Center.  These dye traces were performed by KGS and McCann.  Angela Moore compiled and presented this information for her master thesis.  Click Here to see additional information.
  •  This is a rough estimation of the groundwater basins located on the farm.  These boundaries are based on the previously run dye traces.  This image was created by Angela Moore in 1994.
