Water Quality Monitoring

Water Quality Planning

Surface water quality and nutrient loads were estimated for several watersheds which contained various row crops within the farm boundary. Surface water flow rates and nutrient concentrations for Total-N and o-phosphate were then determined at several weir sites (ST-1, ST-8, and ST-11). The results were compared to USEPA Guidance values.

Weirs for Stream Flow Rates

There are 12 weirs located within the farm subwatershed areas.  Seven of the weirs have continuous water flow monitors attached.

Water Sampling

ISCO Samplers are used for Stream Storm Water Quality Sampling.  Seven surface weirs have storm water quality samplers for composite samples.

Wells

Well Nests were installed for Groundwater sampling at various depths.  Three well nests are  located  in a crop field, a feedlot, and a pastureThe wells are used to sample groundwater zones from soil water through regional groundwater.  Two sites measure the groundwater level.
